A router is a device used for forwarding data packets between two networks. The network may be a local area network or a wireless area network or between both of them. Many routers are used to transfer data between local area networks and the internet. The broadband routers are used for file sharing, LAN gaming and setting up internet connection. You can subscribe to a fully contractual or a very flexible no contract broadband connection. The broadband routers are classified into two categories:
Wired routers: They connect to the internet via a cable. They are used for transferring data from different computers and the internet.
Wireless routers: It is used to connect computer via Ethernet cables and in case of the wireless computers via router to the internet. These routers can be used as firewalls or DHPC servers.
A router used in broadband is a small rectangular with various ports used to connect internet via Ethernet and the other ports are used to connect different computers. These days the wireless routers are being preferred over the wired ones.
